It’s finally here, Nintendo’s E3 press conference. We will learn about Project Cafe, Super Mario 3DS, Mario Kart 3D, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and many, many more. This is sure to be an exciting E3 for any Nintendo fan or any fan of gaming in general.

Above is an E3 bingo sheet created by Joystiq. It’s pretty self explanatory and it should be fun to play after and during the event.

Are you ready for 9:00 PST tomorrow?

E3 Less than a Week Away

June 2, 2011

With E3 just around the corner and Nintendo’s sure to be great press conference on the 7th (they are set to reveal a new console), I figured I’d give you a quick reference guide of where to go and what to expect.

Where and When

Nintendo’s E3 press conference begins at 7:15 a.m. Pacific Time on June 7th.

First off if you want to watch the press conference in it’s entirety, than there are two really good ways. You can watch E3 live on the channel G4, but Directv dropped G4. If you have Directv and can’t watch it on your big TV screen, then go to plan B, watch the live or recorded stream on Nintendo’s website.

If your internet is so bad that you can’t play video or you just don’t want to, you can read GoNintendo, ONM, Joystiq, or IGN‘s live blog. All are high quality and instant.

If just want to see clips and trailers, Nintendo will post them on there site along with some exclusive content (last year Nintendo revealed Mario Kart 3D, Paper Mario 3D, Animal Crossing 3D and more on there site). Also (if you have a Wii) you can watch all the good clips on the Nintendo Channel (they might also have the whole thing after the live stream, but I’m not sure).

Of course I’ll also do a bunch of posts about E3 after the fact with info and my opinions. Also I’ll definitely do a round up post with all the info.

Now, here is a list of what you can expect from Nintendo’s press conference.

Project Cafe

Nintendo has confirmed that they are announcing their new console, Project Cafe, at this years E3. The console is said to be more or as powerful as the Xbox 360 and PS3. The controller is supposed to be similar to the Gamecube’s but with a touch screen in the middle.

Obviously there will be some games shown for it, but none are known currently (that kind of adds to the fun). It has been rumored though that Grand Theft Auto 5, Pikmin 3, and a sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns are coming.

Super Mario 3DS

Miyamoto has said that Super Mario 3DS will be across between Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Bros. 3. All that’s known so far is a few brief comments and these 5 images released at GDC. Note the raccoon tail on the logo which clearly points out the return of the raccoon suit from Super Mario Bros. 3.

3DS eShop

MM_Screenshot04.jpg

With the eShop launching on the night of the 6th (the day before the press conference) we can expect announcements of eShop games and apps. We know that Mutant Mudds is coming, as well as a list of virtual console titles, but I still want a list of fantastic new games to really sell me.

Other 3DS Games

Although Nintendo has not said for certain, it’s kind of a given that we’ll hear more about Mario Kart 3D, Paper Mario 3D, Animal Crossing 3D, and Kid Icarus: Uprising, all of which should be awesome. There is sure to be many surprises and many new announcements at E3.

Wii Games

We will probably hear a lot more about The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword. Hopefully, we will also see announcements for other new Wii games while we wait for Project Cafe. Also if the Vitality sensor isn’t mentioned at this E3, it is probably nonexistent.

DS Games

We will hopefully learn of a Atsumete! Kirby localization and hopefully see more support for the DS before it’s phased out by the 3DS.

Well I hope this gets you prepared for E3 this year.

Another Project Cafe Camera Rumor

May 29, 2011

Earlier today, Wii 2 Blog ran the following story about Project Cafe having a front facing camera.

We recently ran a story discussing rumours that the Wii 2′s controller might have a front-facing camera. Now we have more information that seems to add a little more weight to those rumours.

In a quarterly results call, the company OmniVision hinted that they were getting ready to ship their 8-megapixel camera for use in a smartphone, possibly the Apple’s iPhone. The most interesting thing was that they hinted that they were also getting ready to supply cameras to a gaming console.

The console wasn’t named but it is unlikely to be for a Microsoft console because the next generation Xbox hasn’t even been announced, and OmniVision let it slip that it was for a console that would be ready in the next several months.

That pretty much leaves the NGP and the Wii 2. The NGP is definitely a possibility but then again Sony would probably use their own cameras. This leaves only the Wii 2.

I really like the idea of a front facing camera on Project Cafe’s remote, although I am curious how you would use it.

Project Cafe Confirmed for 2012 Release!

April 25, 2011

Nintendo just confirmed that their new console will be released in 2012 along with the name Project Cafe confirmed! It will also be playable at E3! There is a whole bunch of rumors to go along with the confirmation and name, but if you want to see those, go to Wii2blog.com (thanks Mariofan634!) and WiiHDrumors.com. Here I’ll just cover the confirmations.

Project Cafe was reported to be the consoles project name awhile back, but now on Nintendo Dev site Wario World there is a way to pull up this banner. Check out the links here, here, and here to get a better understanding of what it means. Then of course the link had to be pulled, but this is probably just someone covering up their mistake of releasing stuff to early. There was also this other image which was posted on Wario World 10 days before the rumors started. Is it me, or does that look like a bunny in the coffee?

The press release confirming a 2012 release doesn’t mention the name Project Cafe, but it does confirm a lot of cool stuff. Here it is.

Nintendo Co. Ltd. has decided to launch in 2012  a system to succeed Wii, which the company has sold 86.01 million units on a consolidated shipment basis between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.

We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held  June 7-9, 2011 in Los Angeles.

Sales of the new system have not been included in the financial forecasts announced today for the fiscal term ending March 2012.

Iwata commented saying that it won’t come before april. He also talked about how their sales are down 66% percent. A little scary, and I hope they pull up in time for Project Cafe.

So check out the links and while you wait for the Nintendo investor meeting tonight at midnight WST.
